TODAY IS OMAN NATIONAL DAY - PRAY FOR OMAN

November 18 is Oman's National Day. It is a day where Omanis celebrate the country and His Majesty Sultan Qaboos. Let us remember Oman on this day and pray that the Lord would build His Church in Oman among the Omani people. There are still very few believers in Oman, so pray for the Holy Spirit to break through! Pray specifically for the city of Ibra, and pray for Sultan Qaboos--that the Lord would change his heart and lead his people towards Christ and His Kingdom.

City Focus Prayer - Ibra

• Ibra is located at the foot of the mountains in the Ash-Sharqiya region of Oman. It is considered one of the main cities and gateways to the region and especially to the Bedouin territories of the Wahiba Sands. It is on the caravan route between the interior of the country and the coastal city of Sur. It also had close trade connections with Zanzibar and East Africa.

• Founded before Islam, Ibra is one of the oldest cities in Oman and was a center for trade, religion, education and the arts.

• Like other cities in Oman, Ibra is modernizing and expanding and boasts a technical college, a nursing institute, and the new private Ash'Sharqiyah University.

There are no known laborers for the harvest in Ibra.

1. Pray that the Lord of the harvest would send workers to Ibra and the Ash-Sharqiya region to make His Name known among the Omani people.

2. The origin of the name, Ibra, could come from an Arabic verb (Arabic: ابراءللذنب) that means "purification of guilt". Pray that the people living in and around Ibra would know that there is purification of guilt in the name of the Lord Jesus.

He (Jesus) entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? (Hebrews 9:12b-14)

3. On Wednesdays, there is a ladies souq (Arabic for "market"). Ladies can shop the market as well as enjoy each other away from the crowds of men normally in the market. Pray that the women of Ibra would be honored and respected and find their salvation and purification from all sins in Jesus Christ alone.
